Student Division Dance Classes
Our School Year Dance Program runs from September - May. Each dance class meets once per week during the school year. We find this is the best way to build skills and confidence so we can present our dancers on stage and in costume during our Spring Recitals in May. Class placement is based on grade and experience.
Dance Focus Program
Our Dance Focus Program is for dancers in grades 3+ looking to make a greater commitment to dance and higher expectations of regular attendance and training. In our Dance Focus Program, dancers attend dance classes twice per week during the school year. On one day they attend an hour of Ballet Technique, which is a non performing dance class. On another day, dancers attend their choice of performance dance classes including Ballet, Tap and Jazz.

Ballet Dance Class
Learn balance, poise, strength and grace in the most popular dance class! Ballet is an art form using dance in which fixed poses and steps are combined with light, flowing movement to convey a story, and is the foundation of most forms of artistic dance. In our Ballet dance classes dancers will learn and develop traditional ballet postures, techniques and movements. Dancers will also be learning ballet class etiquette and terminology. Ballet dancers perform in costume at our Spring Recitals in May! Classes begin Sept. 9, 2024
Tap Dance Class
Tap dancers have fun making unique sounds with steps like “Shuffle” and Flap”. Dancers wear special shoes with taps attached turning their feet into percussive instruments. Tap is all about rhythm, footwork, and taking dance beyond the visual to the auditory. Key elements in tap dance class are timing, rhythm, and musicality. Tap dancers will also learn dance and tap terminology. Classes begin Sept. 9, 2024
Jazz Dance Class
Jazz dance class is a high energy dance class combining the foundations of ballet with fun upbeat music developing dancers’ rhythm and expression. Jazz dance class will be a combination of conditioning/warm up, stretching, and variety of across and center floor combinations. Leaps and turns are an essential part of this class. Classes begin Sept. 9, 2024.
Hip Hop Dance Class
This fast-paced, high energy dance class gets dancers moving to the beat of their favorite songs. Hip Hop dancers explore rhythm, coordination and creative movement. Dancers learn the latest moves, develop confidence and a love for dance in our Hip Hop classes. Classes begin Sept. 9, 2024.
Acro Dance Class
Acro Dance is a fusion of the artistry in dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. It is also the hottest new program to teach strength, flexibility and acrobatic skills! Our instructors are certified in the world renowned Acro Arts program. . Dancers move through the Acro dance class levels based on skill. The first part of the season dancers work on developing their acro skills and tricks. Then in January dancers use the skills and tricks to put together an Acro dance that performs in our Spring Recitals in May! Classes begin Sept. 9, 2024.

Lyrical Dance Class
Lyrical dance class blends elements of ballet and jazz together creating fluid and expressive movement . Lyrical dance is more fluid and faster pace than ballet. However it is not as fast as jazz. Lyrical focuses on displaying emotional moods, fast-moving choreography, illustration of song lyrics. Lyrical ranges from athletic to theatrical to soft and beautiful!
Girls wear a leotard and convertible or footless tights with shorts or leggings. Their hair should be pulled back from their face.

Musical Theater Dance Class
Open to all! This dance class focuses on the performance aspects of dance, with elements of Broadway and story-telling. Musical Theater dance class will provide you with the tools to enhance your technique and stage presence. The dance class will be tailored to the needs of each group.
Kehl Competitive Dance Teams & Hip Hop Crews
Be a part of something special! Dance with a school that has been “turning out” beautiful dancers for 140 years. Compete regionally with some of your best friends. Kehl Dance Teams may be just what you are looking for to round out your dance education. Our Teams have performed in Chicago, Disney, New York City, and Europe! We also enjoy performing locally at schools, and events such as Madison’s Art Fair on the Square and Madison’s Kids Expo!
