How To Choose a Dance Class...just like school you have choices.

Choosing a dance class is a bit like a smorgasbord; there are so many choices!  The good news is that if your child does not take a fancy to a particular class, you can try something else!

So how do you pick the right class? Great news, we are here to help you!

Tell us about your child…

1.       Personality.  Do they tend to be shy when meeting others or do they jump right in without looking left/right?

2.       Stamina.  Do they need to burn energy after their daytime activities or would they prefer a moderate pace?

3.       Tradition.  Learning the “dance lingo” and traditional steps will go a long way later on if dance becomes their passion.

Here are some suggestions, and we also encourage you to call or email us and we are happy to make recommendations.

SHY – start with a Ballet class.  We start each class in a special way that connects the teacher with each student. (Tiny tots for 2 year olds, Fairytale or Pre-Ballet for 3+, Ballet for 5K+)

BOLD – try a Combo or a Musical Theater class.  We start each class connecting students with each other and finding “partners” as we progress across the room. (5K+)

HIGH ENERGY – Hip Hop classes keep them moving the whole time and Acro classes focus on personal strength and development of each child.

MORE FOCUSED – we find these kids want a more personal experience, so the more traditional classes such as Combo (Ballet/Tap) class are they best way to start.  (5K+ or Pre-Ballet for ages 3-4).

Once you experience all the benefits of dance, we encourage kids to stack classes and try other forms of dance.  Indulge in the smorgasbord!

Remember, dance is a performing art so a very special experience awaits you and your child at the “end’ of the dance season!
